Finding Clarity in the Chaos
Life doesn't ask us to have all the answers. It asks us to keep moving anyway.
Stories, reflection, and a community for anyone working through the messy middle, one small step at a time.
There isn't one right path. Only the one that's right for you.
Stories and reflections from a life spent figuring things out, and a place to share your own small steps forward.
Fear, questions, grief, change. And then hope, perspective, confidence, home.
Join the conversationThirty years in cancer registry taught me a lot about turning complexity into clarity. I'm building something to share that with my fellow ODS professionals.
The sand is still settling in this hourglass. Good things take a little time.
The book
A Collection of Memories, Poems, and Stories
Some journeys don't begin with a destination. They begin with a memory.
Memories, poems, and stories about losing my mother at three years old, and the long, winding path from chaos to home: through grief, motherhood, and finally understanding my own mind.

Written the way life actually happens. Not in a straight line.
Read it front to back, or follow one of four reading paths. Each story is marked with the symbols it belongs to, so you can follow whichever part of the story is calling you today.

The music woven through the stories, gathered in one place so you can listen along. Listen to a few of them here.
Finding Home in the Chaos gives you room to write your own story alongside mine. Preview it below.
A taste of the music and moments behind the stories.
Some stories in the book come with a song or a video, tucked behind a QR code on the page. Here's one of those, plus an extra treat.
The rest are waiting for readers. You'll find the QR codes inside the book.

I am not here because I have it all figured out. I do not. I am still sifting through the random thoughts, the memories that show up out of nowhere, and the parts of my story I am still trying to understand.
Think of these pages like an hourglass. Dump the messy stuff in. The questions. The people. The moments you cannot stop replaying. Then sit with what slowly rises to the top. Maybe it is clarity. Maybe it is just one honest sentence. That counts, too.
This is not therapy. It is just a place to be real, imperfect, and a little less alone.

Forty prompts across four parts, room to write, and the four threads that tie it to Chasing Chaos, Finding Home. What you see here is a small sample. The full journal is on its way, so keep an eye on my Amazon author page for the release.
A place to ask, to share, and to keep moving together.
This started on Facebook with a simple idea: most of us make our biggest decisions while we're still uncertain. It helps to know you're not the only one. The conversation lives in the Figuring It Out Facebook group, where you can ask for a nudge, answer someone else's question, cheer each other on, or share the thing you finally did.
This website is a place for information, reflection, and sharing. I read what I can, but I'm not able to monitor it or reply to messages on a regular basis. The Facebook group is where people respond to each other, so that's the best place to ask, answer, and encourage.
Moving forward is what builds confidence. Not the giant leaps, the small, ordinary, hard-won steps. Post yours in the Figuring It Out Facebook group, where others can cheer you on, and take a minute to cheer for someone else.
The Figuring It Out Facebook group is where people share their wins and questions and answer each other.
Start your post with "I did a thing" so others can find it and cheer you on.
Post your win in the groupStuck on a decision, a change, or a next step? Ask the group. Someone has probably been where you are.
Ask in the groupYou'll need a Facebook account. If you're new, Facebook will ask you to join the group first.
Not a formula I learned. A practice I found by looking back.
1Question everythingQuestions become the starting point.
2Look closerGet curious instead of staying frustrated.
3Make sense of the piecesPatterns appear. Dots connect.
4Apply what you learnSome things work. Some don't. Both teach.
5Build confidence through actionEvery small win is proof.
6Keep moving through itProgress isn't always visible.
7Share what you knowBecause you remember being lost. You don't move because you've figured it out. You figure it out because you choose to keep moving.
Questions Curiosity Learning Understanding Growth Keep Moving
Movement provokes more questions.
The beliefs behind every step.

Every answer starts with a question, so we stay curious and challenge assumptions.

We cut through complexity to find what matters and turn uncertainty into action.

We make space for support and trust, because no one should figure it out alone.

Growth happens with every step forward, not while we wait to feel ready.

We choose action over fear and keep going when it's uncertain.

Honesty, kindness, and respect in every decision and every conversation.
Sometimes gracefully. Usually not. I'm the author of Chasing Chaos, Finding Home, a book I wrote one memory, one poem, and one story at a time.
For more than thirty years I've worked in cancer registry, turning messy, scattered information into something clear and trustworthy. Somewhere along the way I realized the same process works on life: ask the question, look closer, make sense of the pieces, and keep moving.
When I'm not working, you'll probably find me on the road in our motorhome looking for a campsite with a good sunset, on horseback, or at the pool table with my league team, lining up a shot I was sure I had.
I don't have all the answers. I just keep figuring it out. And I believe you can too.
Ideas taking shape. Tell me which you'd use first.
